MyJob.fit

Figure out if a job actually fits you — before you take it.

Why It Exists

Everyone knows someone who took a job that looked perfect and was miserable in three months. The title was right, the salary was right — and the day-to-day reality was completely wrong for how that person works, thinks, and lives.

Hiring has assessment tools. Candidates have almost nothing. MyJob.fit flips the lens: instead of the company evaluating you, you evaluate the job.

The Problem

Career decisions are made from incomplete signals — a job description written by someone who isn't the hiring manager, a glassdoor page from disgruntled ex-employees, and a gut feeling from four hours of interviews.

The Build

We model two things and compare them: a structured profile of the person (hard skills, working style, values, constraints) and a structured read of the opportunity (role description, team stage, company signals). The interesting engineering problem was turning fuzzy, qualitative inputs into a comparison that felt honest — including surfacing where information was simply missing.

The AI does drafting and structuring. The judgment framework is ours.

What We Learned

  • Users don't want a score; they want the three specific tensions spelled out. "This role is 70% fit" is useless. "You need deep focus time; this team runs on constant Slack" is a decision.
  • Explicit uncertainty beats confident nonsense. Showing what we don't know about a company built more trust than any feature.
  • Career tools live and die on honesty. The moment the analysis feels like flattery, users leave.

Current State

Live. Iterating slowly — "fit" is a deep problem and we'd rather be right than fast.

Frequently asked questions

What is MyJob.fit?

A career tool that evaluates how well a job fits you — comparing a structured profile of your skills, working style, and priorities against the role and company signals.

Does it give me a score?

The point is not a score — it is the specific tensions. A note like 'you need deep focus time; this team runs on constant Slack' is a decision. A number is not.

Where does the analysis come from?

You provide a structured profile and the opportunity details. Drafting and structuring are AI-assisted; the judgment framework is MyJob.fit's.

What if information about a company is missing?

MyJob.fit shows what it does not know. Explicit uncertainty is part of the analysis — missing signals are surfaced instead of guessed.
